Not sure I would want to try this.

Handy things onboard, umbrellas... Hanging over the bow or stern or up the mast fitting some fiddly little bolts hang one under the work area to catch the nuts when you drop one, or the swarf when drilling for some new rivots or whatever. Useful![]()
Absolutely. Put the naval officer on the bicycle and send him to the off licence.I believe someone actually said the last things you wanted on a yacht were a bicycle, umbrella and a naval officer.
I cannot say I agree as some naval officers can be quite useful, as can be bicycles - here of course we use umbrellas to keep the sun off

I like it!
If only this was a whereizit. Port Joinville with the irritating helo in the background.
I'd happily go to sea with an umbrella and have done so, motoring down the Caledonian canal in a flat calm and torrential rain, a lot more useful that a naval officer in such circumstances.
For the ultimate in useless items on a boat try a pool table.

In first year Ship Science we managed to persuade one of our fellow students to include a snooker room on his car ferry design.

Somebody, somewhere just saw this and is working out how to include it in their superyacht oneupmanshipIf I could afford a yacht big enough to have a pool table it would have a computer controlled gimballed floor.
