Who thinks bigger is

think about it.

Are the 20 something speed machine fun?

The 30 something fun but bit more stable more fun?

Or the 40 something fun with their more sedate, non-spill drink pace more fun,

Why did you choose the boat you got?

Was it money, looks, age, practicalities. that made you chose???

Bigger not always better.Look at which size boats leave berth most frequently in any marina.
Just right is best,so no bigger than you can handle alone.IMHO.

As a raggie, who watches in wonderment <sic> the antics and caberet of the bigger MOBO's coming alongside at the marina opposite my mooring can I have a say.

These 35+ ft boats with 7ft of freeboard and the only real exit being to climb off and around the diving platform are just dangerous. One slip and you are soup courtesy of the twin blender blades located just underneath. Always the bloke on the flybridge and some 5ft 2" wifey trying to jump for a platform which is what, 18" above the water.

These boats are so badly designed for their use, if it was a company premises it would be taped off by health and safety to protect the workforce.

Let me also add, most of the boats in this category also use this, the only space to disembark the craft to store their oversized ribs, why they need to carry a massive rib for 2 or maybe 4 people is just daft.

and and and, where are their danbouys, liferings etc. Why do they clutter up the platform with ribs, skis, wetsuits, hydraulic lifts, but never a lifebouy or throwing rope to be seen. These boats, IMHO, are just to big to be of any use, the ones at our marina go out for 30 minutes and then return to their berth, I mean, why bother.

Sorry to butt in on your MOBO thread.

What do you need danbouys and liferings for? Peeps don't fall off gin palaces. Ever!

and why not have mega rib..towing kids on rings and stufff

It's a lot easier than climbing over the guard rail!! Not only that, what would the HSE say were you to suggest inclining a workplace at thirty degrees, putting ropes all over the shop floor whilst having an un-predictable lump of angle iron swinging around at head height??????????

I rest my case......

Re: Raggies

Not allowed to enjoy themselves, see. Much better to row family and large smelly wet dog in small leaky clinker dinghy. That way they can sit in the pub garden (no point in getting unnecessarily warm or comfortable) and share half a bitter shandy, and properly appreciate the joys of boating.

You now understand why I qwont buy a new boat. Well I have another reason now, but not going into that!! MF is square at the back and easy to step off, it's designed sencibly. All the newer ones seem stupid shapes. Angles everywhere. Cleats in daft places, you would think they'd been designed by a raggie!
