Who remembers this boat

This is a long shot, I own a Robert Ives 33' cruiser built in 1982 by Robert Ives in his yard near Christchurch, Her name is JOHN NECK and I am trying to find out who she was named after, I have owned her for four years and waited for someone to tell me, so now I am asking all of you if you can assist.
I have no intention of changing her name but it would be nice if I could tell inquisitive sailors all about her and the man she is named after. thanks.
