I was fascinated to learn that Portchester Castle, according to February’s YM, was
built by the Saxons and given a makeover by the Romans. I guess the Saxons also built
a little publicised time machine that allowed them to nip back in time and build the
castle about 500 years before they actually arrived in Britain.
