Less than a month to go now! Many thanks to all scuttlers for your helpful advice and comments on my last thread on the subject. A full report will be forthcoming if and when we get back, but in the meantime any advice on how to survive Christmas/New Year in Sydney.......?

Most people will be swimming, drinking, BBQing, recovering - but you might like to climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge visit the Blue Mountains west of Sydney or some of the waterways around the area. It all depends on where you will stay and if you will have wheels. If you would like to have a day sail on the harbour send me a PM.

Easy - keep drinking - you only get a hangover when you sober up /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Make sure you go to the Opera House for New years fireworks . Dont bother with Bondi unless you like sharing a small beach with poseurs gays and half the population of New Zealand. The beaches from Manly and further north are much nicer.

There used to be a great pub in Woolloomooloo called Louis that had a good barbi and a live band on saturdays, be interested to know if it is still as good as it was.

Re: Sydney

Keep out of that sinful city , both of you... for good food and fine entertainment stick to Melbourne.... the weather is better , the beer colder , the people nicer. Sidlee is full of gays , pimps, prostitutes, pickpockets, .
But if you must take a gamble , walk up William St.. go on to Rushcutters Bay to the Cruising Yacht Club for lunch ( thats where the Sidlee/ Hobart fleet starts from... have lunch there.. ( great club).. Next day go out to Watsons Bay to Doyles for lunch ( go buy bus).. beaut seafood place...
On the north shore there is the Royal Sidlee Yacht Squadron..another good place for lunch.. take public transport to Manly.. ( ferry boat across the harbour),
then get out into them there hills as advised.
For culture stay in Melbourne.....
