Ah, I'm GUESSING then, that's why when I mixed a saturated solution in warm water, that a lot of it recrystallized as the water cooled? Amazing wot one can learn in here!

Although we are fairly conscientious about pumping through after use, I have just bit the bullet and paid to have my outlets replaced. lough still. Working after 16yrs use, the holding tank valve was stiff and didn't open fully. It turned out that the outlet pipe was three quarters blocked and the valve knackered. Some fittings were cleaned with brick-cleaner but other bits replaced. Although this will see me through my likely ownership, I now plan to leave the holding tank valve open when unattended so that the adjacent surfaces don't crud up.

Oxalic acid is more soluble in warm water than cold. If you made it saturated when warm some will recrystallise as it cools.
