The Deck Saloon on my Jeanneau 43DS has a cosmetic overhang over the windows. This is connected to the main raised deck by a non structural silicone seal that needs replacing in limited areas.

Should a marine quality white silicone seal be used or are screwfix products OK?

CT1 might be a good choice . . It's UV resistant

Sikaflex is popular. My experience is that you need the appropriate product from their (very) long line of variants.

Tec7 isn't the cheapest but the properties are very good. Can be used in the wet, even under water.

Longevity is similar between the two, guided by my experiences (in Scandinavia).

I'm not sure what you mean by 'limited area' but if the failure is intermittent - I'd take out the currently 'sound' pieces - as they may need replacement in the future. If one part has failed I'd think you are lucky if the 'not limited area' also does not lose integrity. If you repair in part now - it will be obvious, different colour white, and will look obvious.

I am a parsimonious Scot ...... Your opening post suggests you are considering a cheap product. I'd use the best that is recommended. Its maybe one tube vs the value of the yacht - maybe even a 'no brainer', even for a Scot.

As post #5, CT1 would be a good choice here, but i also agree with Neeves, removed as much of the old stuff as you can, even if it appears sound.

If you want more focussed help - you will do yourself a lot of favours if you post pictures.

CT1, as per Paul's post above (or VicS further above), has a lot of support on this forum and is quoted regularly. I cannot comment - unfortunately it is not available in The Lucky Country

Surveyor told me to rake out and re-seal the flexible sealand round the shaft log. Any reason not to use Sika?

I would not use silicone on any boat not anywhere . I cant think of any job on a boat where i would even consider using it . CT1 ,or OB1 or stixall or fixall , probably all as good as each other ,the biggest advantage and why its better than silicone, IF it doesn't work first time or IF it for some who knows why reason ,it will stick to itself ,unlike silicone that needs to be totally removed all traces of it in order to reseal the job . this is of cores in my humble opinion.
