I think I've finally found a decent whistling kettle.

Willow & Everett Whistling Kettle... Amazon.co.uk

I've had several over the years and all have disapointed. Often they were cheap lightweight camping kettles. One was an expensive "fast boiling' type but was naff. Variously the whistles were rubbish, too quiet or stopped working altogether. On one the handle and whistle were plastic and melted in use, nearly caught fire while on passage. Luckily a crew member was below and noticed before it became a major issue!!

Linked kettle has high pitched loud whistle, heavy base, and a remote finger catch to open the spout, & important parts are stainless steel.

I paid £20 and am very pleased with it so far.

How far does the spout open? The one I bought last year is hopeless for filling from a water carrier

I posted a video on the amazon reviews that shows this.

Probably not far enough, but the lid comes off and would make it easy I would think.

Bet the spout thingy breaks! :ROFLMAO:

Just keep an eye on the handle rivet . Mine popped off at a very inconvenient moment whilst heading down the Scottish West Coast. Was very pleased it was a chilly day requiring boots and waterproofs . Still managed some very choice words , enough to wake the dead. .

That was a good price and looks functional.

Any plastic round the spout. Really like mine but people keep melting the lid and it's a pretty unpleasant smell.

New kettle? at 3 litres it's almost a water tank! Or perhaps you are making tea for a full racing crew? Far too big for me I am afraid,

We too were in the market for a new one as we seem to get about 1 year between replacements because the flames lick the plastic whistle unless centred very carefully on the flame. I took @PabloPicasso 's recommendation and am quite impressed. Its only been tested at home - but if the flames reach the plastic bits on this one I think we have a bigger problem than the whistle failing! The handle doesn't fold down for some in @johnphilip 's camp that might be a size issue - for us, the kettle never gets put away and it isn't necessary to completely fill but extra for the dishes is usually helpful, and as well as breakfast tea/coffee we often fill a flask.

I'm often making hot drinks for just one, or two people. Just put in two cups if water, unlike many people one does not HAVE TO fill it every time we put it on.
🙄

Seems a bit schizoid as to whether its a kettle or a tea pot, being described as both and having a tea leaf holder sold with it. Appreciate space can be limited, but I'd think making tea in it would spoil the flavour of other things
