Whisker pole.

I think this question may fall in the overlap between this and the PBO forum. We are thinking of buying a telescopic whisker pole. We have a spinnaker pole on the mast, which I will measure this weekend. The plan with the extra pole is to use it on the gennaker for down wind and so we can pole out two foresails. How do we decide the size of the pole? Both length and diameter.

Selden do the only telescopic poles I've seen. One thing to watch out for was that the jaw didn't fit our non Selden mast ring properly and used to jam when moving the pole. The problem wasn't obvious until we tried it for real.

Many thanks for that, I will check. I need to sort the fittings too as the spinnaker pole is left on the mast track. I'm hoping to buy or make a car with a ring either side of the existing pole.
