When adding the amount of the genoa you need to multiply the J measurement by 130%, not just the 30%.
3300mm x 130% = 7590mm.

I asked for a price on a whisker pole for my Genoa the J measurement is 3.3m and they say i need a 7590mm pole length. I am 99.9% sure they have the maths wrong as thats a pole almost as long as my boat .
I don't think i could handle a pole almost 8m long on my own .

I've found that 1.2J is adequate. 3.96m, call it 4m.

Yep wrong maths, they have done 3300 x 230%, so 3300 x 2.3 not 3300 x 130% or 3300 x 1.3.

When I made my own timber whisker pole I read somewhere that it should be 1.1J. That turned out to be exactly right. That was for a timber dayboat with a jib.
