Which type of paint for previously painted fibreglass surfaces inside the boat

Hi all,
Most of the interior of my Seal 22 is painted fibreglass, the paint is now beginning to flake in places. I'm wondering what would be the best type of paint to use:
a) to adhere to the old surface with not too much work
b) to avoid mould / hard to clean finish. The boat lives on legs in winter in a creek (no dehumidifiers etc.!) and so needs a good clean at the start of season

Previous owner last painted the boat, I imagine this was a long time ago using some bog stand gloss...

I've done a couple of small boats with bathroom/kitchen mould resistant emulsion from DIY shed. Looked good and stayed that way. Prepared with a wire brush.

Nothing beats Danboline! As the redoubtable Jane at Largs Chandlers said when she sold me some for precisely this purpose, "It covers up anything and sticks like s*** to a blanket".

That's a moulding gelcoat, for a finish open to the air you'd need to add styrene. A flowcoat would be a better choice. But a suitable paint would probably be cheaper and easier.

It's wax you need to add, it comes in styrene. If you just add styrene it won't cure since it won't seal it from air. Flowcoat is just gelcoat with the wax already added.

Quite right, wax not styrene, my apologies for confusing the issue...

Not so. I've just painted the manky caves under the berths with White Danboline.

I used the Dulux vesrion of that. Easy to apply, easy clean up and easy to overpaint when another coat is wanted. Also easy on the pocket.

Strange coincidence - I watched that for the first time last night. Not one of Cary Grant's best, but genially amusing.

I found an oil-based 'satin' finish paint applied with a foam roller worked well.
Whatever you use, the main thing is cleaning the old painr and removing anything loose.
I found old-fashioned 'Vim' abrasive cleaner worked well, particularly where textured grp needed cleaning and matting.
Messy job for sure.

Water-based paints are improving all the time though, so I wouldn't rule them out.
