SWMBO has just agreed to but me a radar - How cool is that!
Not too expensive mind so I have narrowed it down to either the JRC 1000MK2 or 1500MK2.
Is it worth paying the little extra for the 1500?
Has anyone got one that can comment on good or bad points.

Thanks

Andrew

Go for the RADAR with the norrowest beamwidth. It will be far easier to distinguish small close together targets such as channel markers. This means the one with the bigger scanner.

IMHO for medium sized yachts this means buying the 18" scanner.

Hope this helps

Go for the 1500. It's tighter beam width (5.2 degrees I think) and 2 or 2.2kw output.

We bought a JRC 1500 MkI about 2 years ago and it has performed well. Easy to use
