Which liquid for Heath Marine Compass?

Have a Heath Marine compass like this

It has an air buble. Anyone know what liquid to top it up with?

I used white parafin on my sestrel bulkhead when the diaphragm disintegrated, worked a treat. Found out what to use from an ex-Sestrel employee.

Parafin is the stuff.But you cannot do this without the help of a vacuum jar. There is a small company in southhamton,not far from the red funnel jetty.Does the whole job for a tenner.
