This year we plan to sail down to spain and thinking of upgrading life jackets , the choice is
mind blowing, appreciate the forum experience and knowledge:
Requirements:
Coastal and some offshore
Comfortable to wear

Thanks

I bought 4 spinlock deckvests 2 years ago. They are very comfortable and full spec including a spray hood (which I am told is a real lifesaver if you actually end up in the oggin on a rough day). Would definately buy the same again.

Sprayhood and crotch strap are essential and a light is desirable. Personally I have a Kru Pro which suits me very well but there are many perfectly good choices. Look carefully to make sure that the harness ring or rings are strongly attached and that there are no design features that could cause the jacket to come unfastened. The best way of being rescued is not to fall overboard in the first place, so pair your lifejackets with good lifelines and use them.

Maybe we'll see you in Spain this summer?

They all meet the (high) minimum standards of buoyancy and construction, so the two differentiators are level of add ons - or rather how well they are integrated and comfort/ease of use.

No substitute for goung into a well stocked chandlers and seeing the differences for yourself.
