When out sailing for the day it is difficult to lay the Wedgwood for a slap up meal and for some reason the crystal glasses tend to break.

For that reason we tend to snack and I am sure we all know food tastes better when at sea.

Now I have to say, when on land I hate cup a soups and never touch them but when sailing I just love one, but it has to have croutons.

What is your favourite snack when sailing?

Cold pizza. Fold the pizza in half, then cut it up and wrap it. Although in the future I might be tempted by Sybarite's suggestion.

At night, Pomme Pots and small packs of 6 Oreo cookies.

Take two Jacobs cream crackers, butter lightly.

Cut a largeish slice of strong Cheddar.

Make a sandwich of it - lovely, and has kept me going for 4 decades.

In real extremis the Cheddar may be replaced by 'plastic cheese', Kraft or similar cheese square slices; don't mock, these have their place if the going is lumpy, as does Primula cheese spread.

However my crew took it a bit far one day; I found when I bit into the 'cheese cracker sandwich' that my teeth weren't meeting, and discovered Gordon - best engineer in the world but maybe not chef - had left the plastic film on...

Slightly concerned that three separate posts have suggested 'pork pie' within the prefix - 'Melton Mowbray'.

never mind that.. !!

Depends on if you have crew! :)

If so - send below with instructions..

If not -prepare in advance... or you're in bother :(

Seriously though... single handed.. make cheese / cold ham rolls, boil a kettle >> flask. Bananas / wine gums / oat-cakes.. all help you keep going when things get too busy to go below.

Or wait you're tied up otherwise  !!

A friend showed me this one. Fill a glass jar with one of those sealable lids like a Grolsch beer bottle with spaghetti, vegetables,... Then when you need it, just nip down below to boil the kettle. When it's boiled, fill the jar. Wait a couple of minutes and there's your own pot noodle, fresh and with whatever you like to eat.
