Now KevL lives quite close to me. Except I live about 20 miles nearer to Fleetwood than him.
Would think it take him about an hour and a half to get to his boat. But then he can only get out the marina about two hours per tide. There is nearly no where to park outside the marina, less you like mud and no where to go, less its thirty six miles to the Isle of Man. Which IMHO is crap. Or some place Like Whitehaven which is equally crap. On the positive side. Once escape from Fleetwood has been achieved.. Not easy if you do not want to get up in the middle of the night or set off after tea. Especialy if your limited to weekends. Then with either two little hops or one big one. You can be in Strangford Lough in Ireland. Lovely place. Or Port Patrick at tne enterence to the West coast of Scotland. Once quoted as being the best cruising area in Euorope. Only trouble being. That inorder to get to Scotland you have to pass the Mull of Gallway. Now it happends to say on my chart of that area.
"The Mull Of Gallway is dangerous to small boats. The admiraltys definition of a small boat is a Distroyer or Minesweeper"
On the other hand I drive 310 miles to my boat in Plymouth. Record time 4 hours, done three times. Normal four and a half. Some times five. And dont remind me Nine hours to come back last time.
Now most times I dont even have a tide table, nearly never need one. Go out and to nearly anywhere without bothering about tides. If it's rough, I've got 28 miles of rivers and a masive harbour to zoom round. Even visit other towns and marinas with out going ouside the breakwater. Then if I do theres loads of places to go every five miles or so. Then theres Chanel Isles and France.
So which is better.
