which gun?

In an idle moment I once wondered what effect a 66 would have on a house - so we tried - really rather disappionting just a little hole in the wall - mind you when we came back a few months later the house had fallen down.

Re: RPG?

There is an L40 Bofors (single barrelled 40mm Automatic Cannon) in the yard where our boat is - unfortunately its the manually trained version, but sure you could easily adapt to remote power operated CCTV aimed pirate zapper

Re: RPG?

There's a post war MTB/MGB being refitted to something like original - If I remember correctly its a DARK class and the 1943 vintage Bofors is for it.

66's never were very spectacular until you saw what it did on the other side of armour - not nice.

Bloody hell, rhino, you have one hell of a life. The best I've managed is destroying a boulder with a some kind of rifle, then I put some holes in leaf with a shot gun. Have I led a sheltered life?

Re: RPG?

I think a ship to ship missile system linked to a target acqusition system, nestled in amongst your Raymarine MARPA Radar. Possibly using the mast as a launch tube.
Also have a torpedo system converted from your bowthruster. It will only fire sideways, but that should fool them too.
30mm forward facing cannon disguised as a bowsprit.
I think then you should empty the emergency orange smoke and refill them with phosgene, but careful not to use them upwind.
And finally, the companionway steps should have been filled with hidden 12 bore cartridges set to go off if you arent wearing a McMurdo Crewfind system unit.
No need to explain away one of those nasty Ak47s then.

Peace through superior firepower......

<<When I was heading off to Georgia a few years ago during the civil war>>

Just how old are you?

Hurrah! Hurrah! We bring the Jubilee.
Hurrah! Hurrah! The flag that makes you free,
So we sang the chorus from Atlanta to the sea,
While we were marching through Georgia.

If you go past the Sea Cadets hut in Tooting sauf Lundun you'll see a 6 inch gun bolted down to a concerete plinth with 4 Rawl bolts! What the Cadets want with that in Tooting I don't know and it still works, if you had the ammo!
Then again, Tooting,......you never know!

Re: RPG?

My Dad learned to fire one of those at Shoebury during WWII. He accidentally shot up and wrecked the target too and the army sergeant training them went mental - threatchened to imprison them and god knows what... until Dad quietly pointed out he was Merchant marine!!!

Re: RPG?

I beleieve there are some charcters in Portsmouth teaching the RYA Uzimaster Fastrack course.......a pub based course...

'Twas in the days of Sheverdnaze. I voted for him, though not very PC to admit that nowadays.

Sticks of Dynamite or Plastic, weighted to improve throwing trajectory, and fitted with a 5 sec fuses and det.

Pretend you will co-operate with pirates and sling into their boat as they are about to come alongside. They will be so surprised as the bottom blows out of their boat. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Great fun too. If you are short of food and out of piracy area just go fishing /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The Ruger company makes an excelent stainless steel 357 magnum, and a stainless 9 mm. There are others of course the US military use Berretta 9 mm and I believe the Brits still use Browning 9 mm, an excelent gun but it is single action first round. You also might consider a pump action shotgun.
You will seriously complicate entry and exit procedures when traveling with firearms. Mexico for example does not permit guns when cruising in their waters.
I have seen estimates that say that about 80% of US cruising boats are armed, most keep the weapons hidden and don't declare them when entering foreign ports.
I would neither recommend carrying or not carrying it's your choice.
