Which glue?

Assume it isn't structural being 4mm so presumably trim panels etc.. I would use one of the many Pu (polyurethane) glues which have good gap filling properties, are strong, waterproof and quick. There are non expanding versions as well which can be useful.

They are available from most DIY stores, builders merchants and the like and not expensive.

I found sticking wood to grp panels in bathrooms wasn't very succesful with all the No-Nails, Pink stuff etc gear available at the builder's merchants.
I used Araldite epoxy glue, which seems to have worked.

If non structural ordinary solvent-based Gripfill or similar (No nails/pinkgrip etc) building adhesives seem to stick most things very effectively. In Cornwall Trago Mills sell these adhesives at under £2 for a gun-sized tube - don't know about your location.

I know a builder who runs several boats as well, who says the New Gripfill Max product is the same as Sikaflex, at a third of the price. Haven't tried it myself

Why anyone would use a non waterproof glue in a wet or damp environment I don't know. Pu glue is not the same as NoMoreNails and the like. They are, I think, PVA based.

I have now been using Pu adhesives in damp environments for several years, boaty applications included and found them absolutely brilliant. .

Jewsons sell stuff called "Sticks like SH*T" read the label and see what you think It's an Evo-stick product so give them a ring.

For minor (non structural) binding I use polyurethene glue.
It is seawater proof and kinder than epoxy on my skin. Although it is very difficult to remove the black marks on your hands if you allow it to set.

This can be bought in tubes or containers.

I find that the stuff in tubes is gap filling as it tends to expand when setting which can be quite usefull.

Available from several sources.

The cheepest I can currently find is toolstore.com (£4.32 incl VAT)

I have found that the stuff in containers tends not to expand as much and can be used for a lot of tasks.

For anything structural I always use epoxy with the appropriate fillers.

Cheers

Iain

Try Evo-Stik Nail and Seal - its a bit like Sikaflex, but stays soft in the tube, and is cheaper. Very good grip between woods and between wood and West System epoxy coated surfaces.

I have seen another (newer?) Evo-Stik product which may be even better. can't remember the name and have not tried it.

In my view the No More Nails stuff is rubbish, by comparison - it just seems to be thick white glue.

Balcotan is great for wood to wood joints, and sets quickly, but I have not tried it for wood to grp joints.
