We are moving the boat in 10 days from Kent to Tollesbury. With the recent change to the bouyage which chart would you recommend? I assume all will be new editions?
I don't suppose any of them will have the new Sunk TSS on them for ages. So get the newest you can (of those you like) and update it from the appropriate website.
Personally I like Imray where deeper water is darker blue (seems more obvious to my eye). Good website for updates.
I have just done a yacht delivery from Chichester to Felixstowe and the new Sunk TSS will make no difference to your passage (unless you are 'Constrained by Draft' and draw 22 metres) /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
I assume you have the relevant charts to cover your passage:
Imray C08 for Beachy Head to Ramsgate (if required)
Imray C01 for Thames Estuary.
As I said, you will not be effected by the new scheme but good watchkeeping is a must particularly whilst in the Barrow Deep and Kings Swin if that is your intended route.
Keep a listening watch on Channel 14 as well as channel 16 and advise Thames CG of your intentions and passage plan as soon as you enter their area.
I wish you safe passage. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
Simon, just to mention the best route for you again - out of Oare Creek as soon as you can on the flood, hoof it down the East Swale, head N from the Columbine Spit (or even from the Ham Gat with your draught), past the Red Sand Tower, leave the SW Barrow to stbd, Maplin to port, then pass the Maplin Edge, NE Maplin, S. Whitaker, Whitaker (Buoy), Swin Spitway, Wallet Spitway, then into the Blackwater passing the Knoll buoy and you are nearly there.
I'd recommend you buy 'East Coast Pilot' if you don't already have one, it talks about all this in detail. Also has an excellent associated website www.eastcoastpilot.com with news plus updates to the book.
