I have a yanmar 2qm15, instead of the original yanmar kb gearbox it has a BorgWarner fitted.
The engine has now been fitted in the boat prior to that I had it running on test changing gear with no problems.
On lift in, the engine was lifted up by one end vertical meaning the gear box was straight down for about twenty mins
There was no choice re lifting in as it had to come through the door then be slid under the cockpit floor
On checking there is an oil leak from the out put shaft which was not evident when on test
Yes before any one says it, the oil may have drained out due to being lifted but until I refit the fuel tank I cant run it to normal temp to see if it clears
asap have seen the picture ( the only one I have here until I go back down ) they say it isn't a BorgWarner !
The box looking from the output end has BorgWarner cast in on the left side, gear change on the right. Dip stick right back corner breather top right. Dip stick is or appears to be standard BorgWarner which has the rubber block to seal
I would rather order the correct oil seal if needed then go fit it rather go down strip it out and then go fetch a seal
has any one got the same gearbox is the box a chink copy ?
