Fly bridge
Twin Diesel
No aft Cabin
Like to have Generator

What would you go for?

Princess 420 VS Fairline Squadron 43

I wouldn't constrain yourself to looking at a specific brand/model.
Are you prepared to look in Europe and ship back? Even with the weak pound there are still good boats out there.

If you want maximum value look at good brands that are overlooked by other U.K. Buyers, do general searches based on budget and size rather than manufacturer. I wasn't looking for a Ferretti when I found mine, which was a lot less than £100k and bigger than 40ft - even with the exchange rate now it would be under £100k

Given the option I'd probably buy the same boat again. Here is a younger sister to mine

The 150 is a great boat, I can't recommend one enough. £100k is still a good price and that's before you negotiate.

for me dreams are not enough ,a lot of peeps dream ,most boat owners have to give up something to own a boat ,that means it is part of your life ,but will reward you with memories ,good luck

The F150 is 4.45m wide but does have a lower than normal air draft.
I don't know what the limits are on the canals however.
The transport height includes the grp arch so I don't think that is removable

Nominal height limit for Freycinet canals 3.5 metres, I'd believe 3.4 for some & less for others.

The problem with slightly left-field choices is that you'll struggle to sell on again in the UK.
Stick to Princess, Fairline or Sealine (F44?) (& possibly the Azimuts) or you might find you'll have to take it back to the Med to sell it.
I'd personally avoid any Princess with that yellow burl wood interior, I just couldn't live with it. I don't think I'm alone.

You're not - though some of the latest vinyl wrap interior products look very good and are a cost effective way of updating and hiding wood as seen in the princess. Not cheap, I reckon £10k to do the whole boat but cheaper than re making all the internal woodwork.

I sort of agree re: brands but people do come from Europe to buy here (as we do) and you might end up with more boat for your cash if you don't religiously stick to uk boats in the U.K. Road transport through France for example wouldn't be that horrendous if you used a local firm and then did the channel on its own bum

Out of interest for possible future adventures I recently bought a book about routes through the French canals (which was published in 2002). It indicates routes through France with 3.5m air draft at normal water levels are possible. (Amazon may have used books that are very good value .. you have to accept they may be out of date in some respects but certainly worth a look).
For me 3.5m is a tight fit with antennas and radar arch thingy folded and need to lay down on the flybridge seat to avoid decapitation when passing under said bridge - Sealine F33 .
Be aware some routes are lower air draft and lots of tunnels
