Which boat ? UP TO £55k !

There's an un-loved Sealine S24 in our marina (Peterhead, Scotland).... not been running for two years +, got KAD 32 onboard ... I am pretty sure you can get her for a song..... and a fair bit o TLC ....

Looking at those new or nearly new £55k offerings from Monterey, Bayliner, searay etc, all very nice & the big hit in depreciation has been had the day the first owner took delivery, prices still look to be good after the first season but are offset by the equipment thats been added, hence the resale looks good but there will still be quite an amount of depreciation to come once you take ownership.

The older homegrown models of sealine, fairline & princess seem to have an edge here, depreciation has slowed to the point that the most popular models ie the s28, targa 28/29 & the princess 266 the prices hardly change.
What made them great boats then still holds true today, well built, well speced & built for british climate & waters.

I know the lure of a new boat all too well but after the shine has worn thin a season down the line then perhaps you will understand why an older boat can be a better option.

You are right of course, and to be fair to Honeybee, his origional post was about a 4yr old boat he likes, it was myself that mentioned he could get new for that money!

Good advice you've given though.

Cheers

Al.
