Hi,

I wonder if one can guide me to which anchor I shall buy. I am going to Sweden (along the west coast north of Gothenburg) for the summer and I want to overnight outside of ports. I have one mounted anchor in the front but want to bring on a second one for the stern... Then find a clam spot and dump both anchors. Looking at anchors there seem to be a lot of different shapes .... Which one to choose for my job. The boat is a 37 Motorboat with twin sterndrives ... weight of 8,000 Kgs incl. passengers. Thanks.

I'm not brave enough to volunteer an opinion. What would help someone who is would be for you to tell us what kind of seabed substrate you aim to anchor in.

Then I would be looking at anchors that have a high point load (grapnel and plough types) and smaller fluke area and use a trip buoy. Claw, CQR, Delta, Rocna and Supreme. Note with the claw / Bruce the bigger the better and minimum 20kg. Their holding power drops off exponentially with size/weight as they dont scale down well. (or so the literature would indicate)
