Which anchor for inflatable dinghy?

We've always used small folding grapnels - either for swimming stops or more often off the stern to hold the dinghy away from docks with rough surfaces or swell. Obviously it has to be a dock where this practice is routine or your stern
line may be a surprise to the next person coming in.

I was just about to start a thread.

I have just bought an anchor 1.5kgs and 3kgs grapnels for the 10ft inflatable dinghy (not RIB) i had been using the shoreline rock chain for acting as a stern anchor to keep the dinghy off of the dock.

Yesterday i walked roung and round a chandler until I found something to buy for the boat, an anchor was it.

The small one was tiny, but for the price of a redbul i had to have it. (Used today in the dinghy as see in the photo) great holding on a rock.

I also bought a heavier 3kg grapnel with 2 metres of 8mm chain. I would have bought 3 but only had 163 kuna (exactly). Ideally i wanted an inverted mushroom anchor as i bought in newport rhode island at West Marine but have not been able to find a stockist.


Just wondering what the rule was for holding the dinghy in place. I

If you empty the dinghy of superfluous anchors and other dross, it becomes easy to carry it up the beach and chain it to a tree or something.
Last time I anchored my rubber dinghy, I used a the lead weight which normally got used as an anchor angel.
I have some heavy woven bags, a bit like baby versions of the 1-ton bag that building sand comes in. One of those filled with pebbles or sand is excellent for stopping racing dinghies blowing over in a gale, it would probably work well enough as an anchor?
