I am about to bed some new Perspex into my old aluminium hatch frames ( x3), but not securing with screws as was previously and am a little confused as to which adhesive/sealant to use and have looked at the following:

Sikaflex 295 - Seems to be suitable but requires a primer (I think) and is ridiculously expensive at £25 a tube (primer £28)

Sikaflex 291i - Not sure whether this is suitable as an adhesive and sealant?

CT1 - Have read through posts where people have used this but not sure of its suitability.

Anyone got some ideas or experiences on these or any other suitable material as the Perspex wasn't cheap and I don't want to do the job twice.

Use a butyl based sealer which does not set solid or butyl tape which you can get from specialist boat window people such as Hadlow or Eagle boat wondows (and no doubt other sources).

I will be using butyl tape to seal the hatch frames to the deck (with bolts) but require an adhesive to bed the Perspex into the frames and the butyl doesn't offer adhesive qualities.

Sikaflex 291 is a fine adhesive/sealant. Sikaflex 295 is almost identical, but is additionally UV resistant. For bedding Perspex into hatch frames, 295 will last forever, and is the best thing available for this job.

If you get in touch with Eagle Boat Windows they will no doubt sell you exactly what you need (including the primer), together with instructions. As you say, well worth doing right.

I did initially contact them for a quote to refurbish the three hatches but the cost was on a par with buying new ones!

They also supply appropriate sealants and kits, which are not expensive. Even if you don't end up buying sealants from them they will full of useful advise.
