Where to wear the club burgee?

I have a single spreader rig and I only have the facility to hoist flags to the Starboard spreader - is it acceptable to wear the club burgee below the French courtesy flag, but both to starboard?

Thats what l've done in the past and had no problem from the authorities. Perhaps a current yacht club member could confirm this as l'm now to poor to join one.

The owner of a fraffly nice (British) yort told me orf!

Seriously, he said the burgee MUST be worn to port. I don't like to offend, so I simply removed it for the remainder of my stay.

Chaos, panic and disorder - my work here is done..

Just in case anyone's tempted to take Humperdinck's post seriously, note carefully what he just posted on the BoatsYachtsMarinas forum:-

"Pay a quick visit to the other place and read the thread complaining of "troublemakers". It so inspired me that I couldn't resist posting a question about flag ettiquette.

It seems that the new crowd inhabiting Bumblescat dissapprove of anything humourous. My challenge, should you wish to accept it, is to visit and post the most lamentable question. He (or she, now we are a truly Egalitarian community) who recieves the most replies to the MOST mundane posting is the winner.

I've cheated by starting one about flags, but there are the old chestnuts about:

- The RYA (what's it for?)
- Holding tanks, do I have to fit one?
- Offer a boat for sale ...
- What gauge wire for a bow thruster?

May the best Blottlescatter win!

Chaos, panic and disorder - my work here is done"

And you thought Nigel Charlesworth was a nutter! What a sad bunch.

Fly mine on the backstay, same spot as the class race flag.
You must join a yacht club, great fun writing letters to the committe and commode about the state there letting the club get in, and of cause bar prices.

Ah, but it did happen!

To me in Calis last year. He's right to keep the flags as they were.

Yes deliberate, the last two have been given that title, started as a private joke, now becoming a little wide spread.

Suggest you wear it on your club tie - and then pull it ever so tight!

Humperdinck, I am dismayed that you have chosen to try and wind-up members of this BB whilst tittering with your in-crowd buddies at BYM. As for flags, if you happen to have a flag-staff I know where you could stick it.

Loved it - Loved it - Loved it

The droll one' s are always the best Cornishman !

Alex Moore's suggestion also seconded !

Before any bodily parts are all gone I would like to suggest an Open 60's spinnaker pole be stuck somewhere as well !

I am new to these forums

having only recently got a computer and gained access to the internet, I am rather puzzled by your attitude to what seems to me to be a perfectly serious question.

What exactly is your problem? A chap asks a straightforward question, and you give him abuse! Why? Had I have posted this question would I have been treated to the same level of abuse?

I am somewhat surprised at this attitude from what I considered a more mature group of sailors, and I trust that the moderators of this forum will insist on you apologising to Humperdink.

I don't know who you are but I find the handle you have chosen to use on our forums offensive and disgusting, and I hope you have sufficient manners to refrain from using it again.
For those who don't speak German be assured no decent person would use such an expression in mixed company. (yes my wife, who also speaks fluent German often reads the forums too!)

I smell a rat that someone new to the forum would turn up with such a name and immediately jump to a posting like this one.

Considering we have posters from different nationalities as well as youngsters using the forum I think it is out of order to use obscenity in any language.

If BYM is intended to be a virtual yacht club its obviously not a family one .
