My Sea Wych ( 19ft, home assembled) is insured by Navigators and General ~ part of the Zurich group. ( Small Craft Policy)

Reasons are purely historical

Not been asked for a survey

Cant say much more. Originally insured via the OA and Westminster Insurance Services. 30+ years ago ~ I just pay whoever sends the bill for renewal!

Do you have to have RCD certification for home builds before they are insurable?
www.Craftinsure.com are usually pretty good

No, unlikely as RCD is consumer legislation and home builds are exempt provided the builder does not sell within 5 years of launch. Can see insurers requiring a survey or similar to satisfy themselves that the boat is seaworthy if all risks insurance is required.
