Puerto Solente

Port Solent is just off the M27 so quite handy, and for northerners it is very impressive. They have nice warm loos and showers that work! With FREE bogpaper and FREE soap too! in fact, if you check out all the showers, you will almost certainly find some free shampoo that has been left by some brainless southerners with more money that sense. So, obviously much better than at home.

oh, and there is a Marine Superstore there. It is so fabulously profitable that you can get 10% off just by asking. It helps that you are Yorkshireish and ask in a smiley skint sort of way. As usual, tellem you want the discount cos you are totally skint, from the North, where people use Morrisons supermarket, buses and libraries instead of restaurants, cars and bookshops, and they will fully understand.

Re: Puerto Solente

I will start by expessing amazement at their electric lights, that always encourages Southerners to be more charitable I find, and then will use the normal negotiating techniques that you so adroitly outlined.

If I mention your name will it help?

Martyn

PS: The article in MBY was excellent, even had me laughing out loud at the "sleeping under the stairs" comment.

Re: Puerto Solente

I would like to claim that yes indeed it would help, cos i have spent a whole ton of money in their and at one time found myself unable to buy anything cos i owned one of almost everything they had.

Unfortunately, a few months ago i am afraid that I inadvertently upset one or two chandleries, so mentioning my name may be counterproductive.

Well, when i say "inadvertantly upset one or two chandleries " I suppose it's more accurate to say that I "deliberately slagged off every single chandlery", but it sounds less destructive to say that I didn't mean it, and blame the editor for changing all the words around. Ok, the sub-editor then. Oh alright I'm sorry, it was me, and a cheap shot. True though. Oops, done it again...
