where to get exchange injectors?

[ QUOTE ]
Service injectors after only 500 hrs, is that right? Can you imagine EVER getting injectors serviced on a car. Do they ever go wrong? I realise they may wear after 1000's of hours but I've never heard of them being serviced??

[/ QUOTE ] Could this be something to do with the difference between 'white' road diesel and the lower grade distillate used for the 'dirtier' red supplied for boats?

Dont know if their broke, engine getting a bit smokier on acceleration and some loss of acceleration at the momment and hull is clean, also one poster indicated that poor injectors could slso result in clattery engine ive noticed that one of mine when warm is a little bit like that, for a cost of £17.50 each to have them cleaned and spray pattern checked and if the nozzle is poor £42.00 for a new nozzle less the £17.50 if found to need one, is a small prive to pay for all the possible benefits ,acceleration returned, less smoke, better fuel economy, less possible damage to engine ,piece of mind etc etc am i wrong?

Exactly, and to be fair I try to avoid breakdowns rather than deal with the mess afterwards. 500 hours equates to around 5 years average boating and what I did was had the injectors checked at that point as recommended. Had two poor patern. I said in earlier post that exchange was £12. sorry that was wrong. It probably was correct sometime in the last 35 years, but does'nt time fly! I know that new from Volvo are £72. but exchange must be a fair bit less than that. Some testers will rebate test fee if you buy an exchange. We run trucks and really only change injectors when there is a problem. But I can buy a complete engine for a fraction of what a marine engine would cost.
