Where to advertise bits over £500?

I have some bits, sailing related, which are worth above the ybw limit. I am not on Facebook. Where do people advertise?

eBay.

It has become much easier to sell on eBay since they simplified the process for arranging shipping and collecting.

But I have no experience with Facebook so can't advise.

I have tried Gumtree a few times, using a Dutch auction technique, but never had any good prices for anything.

I agree with the view of Gumtree - it is for buyers who are cheapskates. I use it myself.

Ebay has just turned the commission system around. Sellers don't pay it but the buyer does. And I am sure the buyers take that into account, so your selling price is still affected.

It's worth highlighting that the fees are still there, they just get paid by the buyer so everything looks more expensive on the buyer side now.
I definitely prefer this system over the old one, but it's very weird when you see the price someone paid and compare it to what you got!

Ybw should enable adverts. I would pay. Gets to the right people - ones with loads of cash and plenty of time to browse.

Nothing is worth getting Facebook for. However if you hijack the the ole missus's phone you can sneak in your ads on Marketplace without having to deal with the rest of it.
Sorted, though there is sometimes a bit of backwash.

I have found Facebook Marketplace good for buying and selling, no fees no fuss. There is a lot of banditry but it's pretty easy to spot and, particularly local items, seem to be offered much for less than Ebay. A downside when you are selling or maybe an indication that Ebay is awash with overpriced used stuff that never sells.

Sold two grands worth of ‘Ratners’ on eBay over last couple of months. All from my shed of sailing antiquities. Agree with others, better place to sell now.
