... and has anyone ever used it as an anchorage?

With a gentle W-NW, that patch of sand on a short scope would seem like a nice place to lie, for a night (or a lunch time sandwich)anchorage1.JPG

It looks like Chapel point. We used To call that cove Cow Pat Bay, for obvious reasons. I have anchored for lunch in Portmellon but not thought of the cove. My woodcarving teacher told me that she had lived in one of the houses as a child but had no memory of it.

If it is Colonna Beach I shall need to visit it next summer, looks lovely.
It is a beautiful area, and I have a part share in a plot of land a few hundred yards from the photo, though the possibility of getting planning permission is contentious. I have only anchored briefly at nearby Portmellon where I spent my childhood holidays but I have seen boats overnight there in the past. It is not a long walk from Mevagissey either and you could walk further round west to Gorran Haven and enjoy some of the finest view around. An alternative is to stay at Fowey and catch the fast ferry to Meva.

It is indeed. We walked that stretch of the coast this summer: Anchored in Gorran Haven, walked to Mevagissey for a pint, then back. Some of the finest stretches of coast. Beautiful views.

We observed a yacht tucked up there this summer. Only thing against it is need to row ashore and walk a bit for my draught beer, though we did enjoy anchoring off the nearby Goran Haven mid passage - and I dont really like leaving boat on a short scope

It was one of the few coves free of mines when I first went there. Round the Dodman, Hemmick beach was a great spot but I have never seen a yacht approach it.

We dropped the hook here, this spring, on a day when there were gentle easterlies. And went for a walk around Dodman. Lovely day.
