Where is everybody ?

Have to say I am generally in favour of open air boating as well. When boat hunting I've seen, and been interested in, many boats with wheelhouses but don't like the shut in feeling. Soft tops, for now at least, remain my preference.

We enjoy the flybridge most of the time, but when it's pissing down, and you really need to get somewhere (i.e. Home!) on time, the inner helm is a good option.

We don't have to mess around with flapping, dripping canvas either, we just walk around our capacious side decks and through each side door.

We have a sunroof in the wheelhouse too, and as well as the sliding doors, opening windows galore!

It really is light years ahead of the majority of stuff on the Thames up to 30 foot, in terms of convenience, accommodation, versatility and comfort.

Not a coastal boat of course... :)

You know taking the hoods down is optional dont you?

If it is raining you can leave the hoods up and stay dry. To get to the front which we only need to do for locks, you just roll up one small section of hood. Hardly trouble.

You dont need windows at the helm when you are in the open air and all of the cabin windows and hatches open for fresh air below.

Narrowboats cross the channel as well doesnt make them seaworthy boats.

(Although i think i would prefer my chances in the Broom rather than a sewer tube.)

Sewer tube?

SEWER TUBE??

[Inlandnewbie mode]But just because you brought the wrong boat, can't see why you feel the need to slag of other peoples boats.
Different people have different boats for different needs.

Blah blah blah...... [/Inlandnewbie mode]
