Well what a amazing 8 days yachting around and what a lot of lessons !!

Trip in short was,
Southwold>Harwich>Chatham>Limehouse>Ramsgate>Oostende>Blankenberge>Southwold

Headlines for me at least are,

Limehouse Basin, great London city location, close DLR station, excellent food at very good prices from the Cruising Association HQ, £36 per night for a 34' - dammed good I'd say.
Certainly put the £32 they charged at Chatham into perspective.

Thames - Bouncy as hell from the O2 to tower bridge, the clipper ferries and the fast thrill-ride ribs really churn up the water let alone the fact they're moving at 20+ knts

Ramsgate - Boy the North going tide across the entrance really runs hard and with a NE gets pretty bouncy.

Oostende - The king is dead long live the king. Robert the long standing HM has retired and has been succeeded by a very much younger and laid back guy called Simon.
Oostende - No longer supply diesel !!! you have to go to either Nieuwpoort, Zeebrugge or in our case Blankenberge.

13 hours today from Blankenberge to Southwold.

There has never been diesel in Oostende
The place will have lost some of its charm with Roberts departure imo

Many thanks for your suggested routes, they helped a lot.
BTW I saw Crossing the Thames for sale in a chandlers in Ramsgate and in Blankenberge.
I got the one in Ramsgate.
Unfortunately not before I did the overland passage to Ramsgate in the dark which was a little fraught at times with the 2.1 mt draft.

Forgot to mention our stop at Queenborough after Chatham.
That was an experience mooring up on the concrete lighter and having a subsequent BBQ on it.

We came across three unlit buoys, a green can at the entrance to the medway between grain and the wreck which was a little scary at 04:00
Another big yellow jobby off Oostende and a North Cardinal off Blankenberge this morning which was another near miss, thank god the moon was out.

Grain Edge which is charted as unlit

Ooops is it, still bloody silly having a great hulking lump of metal unlit.

Filling station across the road out of the back

Simon did tell us about that option but I needed 100 lts and didn't fancy the hard graft and the associated pools of spilled diesel which always seems to accompany my attempts of refilling by can.

St Kats. Really lovely. Great facilities

Limehouse Same price as St KAts with poor facilities. Grotty boats and green water
