Where can I get one of these?

You gonna need to book two SleazyJet seats, given your current "state"?

;);):D:D:eek::eek:

Just doing my bit to keep the post count going, you understand......;)

Three I reckon. One for my arrse, one for my leg, and one for my minder.
I need to hire a minder/helper starting next week, for a month. I can move around on crutches but can't carry a bag, even a light briefcase. And although it's my left leg I'm prob better not driving for a bit. So need a chap to drive me to work, carry bag, and accompany me on Sleazyjet. And able to amuse himself for chunks of time in between. Anyone know of an agency for people who offer this kinda service? I should probably ask Jordan or somebody

OK, so I have some (and only some) sail boat bits I can't possibly need again, but what are you doing keeping cushion retainers you don't need, from a boat you don't have and haven't had for years?

I already know the answer BTW, "I kept them just in case, at some point, a mate of mine in Brighton was looking to replace some badly fitted cushions and finds that the Fairline parts are outrageously priced and tricky to source".

As a contribution to the 100 target, is teak OK as a verb? Can anyone decline it?

Ah well. They seem just too good to chuck. And they are current fit parts on my current and previous boats. Seemed the sort of thing that would come in handy (though they never acrually have, till now)

Yup I was out of order on teak as a verb. Thought I might get away with it on a boat forum. It would decline, but in a forced kinda way :-)

BTW Kcrane, I know of a lovely berth for sale on Mole Sud in Antibes. Excellent history and service record. Would fit a v48 perfectly. Sound investment opportunity :-). Vair reasonable price. You know it makes sense!

Does it come with a low mileage FL58?

So many choices... new V52, berth in Antibes, new V52, berth in Antibes.

PS - the new V52 is now in Swanwick, looks good, though it has one of those SS-like bathing platforms that look like it is putting its tongue out.

You serious? You contemplating trading in the 48 for 52 so soon? Excellent stuff kcrane, way to go. We must be up to a dozen new boats on the forum this year so far, with 2 of them yours

Those platforms are all the rage, ahem :-)

Aha, so we'll be meeting again on V52 hull #1 at the Princess weekend event at the end of the month then?

Cheers

If you go to a trad UK agency for this you'll get a bodyguard and it'll cost a fortune. Given where you are most weekends - wouldn't a deckie from one of the crew agencies do the trick?

We will, we've booked in already. Those devils at Princess deliberately park new boats opposite me every day, it's more than a man can bear.

Let us know what day you're down, it's all of 30ft to Intraventure and that champage you said no to last time!

Back to your original subject of the post, Jimmy.
I've recently done something very similar when fitting foredeck cushions.
I considered using stainless bridges like the ones in your pics but thought that plastic ones would look better.
Mine are white so you dont notice them or stub your feet on them and are far less prone to the broiwn stains that you get round stainless fittings.

Readily available and cheaper.

Mike

My observations is that most of Fairline's suppliers are happy to deal direct with the public (even the ones who make custom bits). The only exception being the carpet suppliers. I can't recall any cases where a manufacturer cannot supply direct due to the due to contractual reasons. I guess that they just don't want the hassle.

£10 a pop for the parts does seem a bit dear but I suppose they have to be proper marine quality stainless so they don't rust.

Cheers, Pete

hey jimmy, did you finally get your fixings ?

yesterday my local canopy maker was here,
two years ago he has placed these on my boat:

these are for 25mm wide straps
he has them available at his workshop, here very close.
they cost almost nothing,
if these are right, I can send you 10 pcs by post

Hi Bart, that's really kind of you, but in fact between jfm and Essex Boatyards I am sorted. Appreciate the offer though, many thanks.

Surely not the end of the thread Jimmy ? It's only up to 53 posts and i'd kinda gotten used to waking in the mornings, looking forward to reading how you were getting on with your bits

It's definitely not the end Paul. For starters, I will report back when I've had the things found and counted among the spares warehouse aboard my boat, today or tomorrow. Then Jimmy's pschologyst will be on, telling us about OCD syndrome leading a man to make a boat absolutely OEM perfect :-)

Ah, that's OK then. I'll sleep sound tonight :)

Mate I know I'm from Brighton, but if you're after an update about I get on with my bits in the mornings, then you might possibly be on the wrong forum.... :D:D

Good-o, in fact I've been on to another T40 a couple of hours ago to check how everything is fitted up, and it turns out I over-estimated, I need 8no not 10no of the fittings. Looking forward to your crew's update so that I can then order the balance from Alice at EBY. It's exciting stuff this, innit? Where's Haydn when you need him, eh?

Cheers

Hi Jimmy
Right. Found em. I've got 4, and will happily send them to you. I'm in France, mebbe back next weekend, so can it wait till then or shall I post them from here?

Having now seen them, they are worth the £10 each. They're quite a bit bigger than normal webbing straps, and nicely TIG welded

Picture of one of them below, taken 15mins ago :-)

This is my last week on the boat. Survey is on Wednesday and if it passes that it'll be handed over to buyer next week most likely. Feels a bit sad - I put a lot of effort into speccing and modding the boat and have only done 200hours and one season, and I really quite like it. I rashly accepted a high price from the first people who viewed it, cos of my knackered (for June and July) leg :-( Ho hum!
