I need to replace the cable that goes from the switch and alarm in the cockpit to the box that contains the controller for the main electric furling. The system is made in the States. The cable has 5 cores/little wires within. I do not know what the proper term for this type of cable is.

The advice from USA is that I need a cable

with 5 conductors. There is very little current so an 18AWG or 20AWG conductor size would be sufficient. Not sure what that translates to in mm2 but it is not a very
large wire.

Ideally the conductors should be blue, red, brown, black and green

Could someone guide me to either what I should google or a good supplier?

Thanks

Try a local electrical wholesaler - TLC and GFE are 2 of our local ones.
You show them yours and they will show you theirs - typically 35pence a metre.
Alternatively, buy a telephone extension cable from Screwfix/Toolstation

Alternatively Farnell

Or there isThis on ebay
Check with the system manufacturer whether its large enough for your length of cable run. If its too small you could double it up.

Specifying particular colurs won't be easy but

You could use heatshrink

Halfords or a motor factor-
trailer lights cable is seven core, and available in the curly extendable/ stretchy style if your controller is not fixed in one position.
