where can i buy a c-map card reader & software?

Can you print from this programme? Therefore avoiding the need to buy paper charts?

I'm trying to justify the additional expense, do i really need this...

I'd guess so, at the very least I know that you can do a screen print. I've got the C-map card reader next to me but the charts are on the boat....

That would be fantastic if you can print, i suppose i'd need to print to scale etc. i'm planning cruising europe in August so it would mean i'd save lots on charts.

is where I got mine from a few years ago. Excellent service.

I use SOB software for plotting on the laptop, and can print the charts.

You can print, but what you get is what you get on the screen. So OK for pilotage charts, IMO.

I still use paper charts (as well) on a long trip like from Chichester to Falmouth A4 prints of charts........well they seem to be too small.
