My galley locker was getting damp so i have taken off the whole front panel to get a better look and insulate etc.

Water coming in through the jib track I think. And the chain plate.

Resealing the jib track looks easy enough now I have access. Any suggestions as to what I should seat it with?




The chain plate looks a bit grim. Stainless bolts with steel nuts? Bit of a surprise. Water getting in here to so I'll slack off and rebed.

I would use butyl tape to seal it. Available from Amazon on a roll.

Another for butyl. But make sure that the area is dry !

Butyl doesn’t like water or damp and wont seal correctly as I am finding out

Once in place in a dry location, it is fine though.

Likewise, Butyl tape. Some people do use sealant but if the track requires bending as you bolt it down the sealant ends up everywhere.

Take out and examine any fastening that looks like this.

Very likely to be suffering from crevice corrosion and close to the point of failure !
