When trailering ???

Good point. You CAN get steel galvanised trailers that will take 2850 kg.but they’re not cheap. Extreme 3500kg Super Roller Boat Trailer - £5,294.00 : Extreme Marine
And as you say, he has to work with what he’s got. Perhaps he can say what’s on the trailer plate.

I get fussy about these things as I know the police are hot on them. Fortunately the Defender is a great towing vehicle.

Good find.

I suspect that the trailer that came with Wayne's boat is hugely unlikely to be able to carry the boat on it legally on the road. It is also likely that no trailer exists that could carry it legally on the road behind a 'normal'* vehicle if it all comes in at over 3,500kg, which I suspect it might.

*Normal meaning a privately owned vehicle towing a load with overrun brakes.

If it was going just a few miles up the road, and it was all a bit marginal but manageable, I might be tempted to risk it (yes I know, so shoot me), but would not want to be on any major road with a rig that was illegal. There is a good chance of getting pulled and then you are stuck.

We are of one mind... he needs to be careful. Plod are hot on these things as I’ve already mentioned.

Agree.

IF he has the right kind of towcar, licence and everything else - a short trip up the road, hmmm up to him.

But I wouldn't risk a proper drive on proper roads for any distance that's for sure.

Most 3500kg trailers have a rated weight of about 2750 - suggesting they weigh about 750kg themselves.

I agree there are some very lightweight ones out there but they are rare and very expensive

The OP is Wayne's world so it is quite possible that a lot of the stuff in the boat has been stripped out and hence it may well be under weight. I think if this is a one off move as I suspect it is and if you strip it out you might get it within weight but you would need something like a Discovery to tow it
I was going to say that! Wayne probably whipped out those engines in the first ten minutes of ownership, they are most likely sitting on his kitchen table as we speak.
But old fiberglass is possibly heavier due to trapped moisture

Without engines is a completely different matter!

Google Fairline Fury 26 specifications. Listed as a twin engine boat with a displacement of 2.8 tonnes.

Boatshed? I've met many of their brokers. Have a laugh, undo the raw water filter and ask them why there is no coolant mix in. They are the epitome of correctness and the bastion of truth.

Now ok , I will lift the legs and strap them up with the NEW 5000kg sreaps I got and also fit the pair of Duckbacks I have.
Now the trailer is this 3500kg and weighs 680kg. So carries 2820kg. More than the boat weighs.
In original brochure with single VP it weighs
1900kg.from factory so dry weight.
A chap that has same boat as me weighed his and it came in at 2200kg.

So well under the trailer load.

I will be further more be removing the canopy and frame and all inside I can. Dry tanks nothing else loose inside.

Captain Faffer.
