When trailering ???

Probably going to be shot down as a naysayer, but not all Shogun models can tow 3500kg. It tends to vary between 2800 and 3500 so you do need to check the exact vehicle specs of the one you are buying.

This site may help, but the only thing I would rely on 100% is the vehicle VIN plate.

Mitsubishi - Towing Capacity & Weight Limit Information

According the VIN plate check its 3390kg. plenty.

OK, I know that you have worked out to your own satisfaction that your boat on the trailer is well below 3500kgs, but even the most incompetent copper will be able to see a trailer plate that states 3500kg and a VIN plate that states 3390kg and start to wonder if some law has been broken. Even if you are within limits, it will take an accompanied trip to a suitable weighbridge to get that confirmed. (it used to be the case that if the trailer said 3500, the vehicle must be capable of towing 3500, even if the trailer was empty. Luckily that rule/law seems to have disappeared now, but there may still be coppers out there that believe it)

If you are sure it's all above board, it could save you an awful lot of hassle if you take it to a weighbridge yourself and keep the weighbridge ticket with you to show said copper if you are stopped.

I am one to go with whats right and follow rules, you may a pillock of a copper, if i do come by one and they take me to a weight bridge or use there mobile one which ever ill drive away with a cheesey grin staring at him. lol. , Had them in the past myself and when they skulk away i hope it makes them think next time if they dont know what there doing. . if we do all these things by there rules which are not always right by the real laws, even the most honest and straight person would not do anything `just incase` . Its under weight all rigged properly as far as i know and read up on so only one thing to do.
I have a public weigh bridge near home where i am gung to weigh it and as you say keep the chitty in the car for when i move the boat around.

@CLB

That thing you mentioned about trailer weights etc. Another one is when a van has a tow bar fitted if used or not to tow needs to have a Tacho fitted. wonder how many folk have been for that one. small things that are daft and not checkable so like you say its down the discrestion of the copper.

It sounds as if you have now got boat home on trailer, Did you have to knock anything down to make it fit on hardstanding.
Look forward to the refit thread.

Not home yet kida, its been put back to the 27th.. and nothing will be knocked down now to get it in the garden lol. more things being built as i am `letting` T have some of the boat yard...garden back so a fence is going up.

Not exactly right - If a van has a MAM over a certain amount (can't remember what it is now) and there needs to be a tacho fitted if the vehicle will be used for towing commercially.

I own a van with a towbar, but the van is privately owned used for personal use - doesn't need a tacho as far as I know.
