When did the KAD 43 replace the 42?

looking at V40 at the moment and on a previous post someone remarked that the 42,s are crap with alot of problems, alot of the V40,s i have looked at have 42,s are they really a problem and when were they supercedded?

Can't put an exact date on the changeover but 43's were definitely around in Feb 1998
There do seem to be lots of tales of woe about the 42 and unlike other criticisms I don't see anyone rushing to defend them.
