Leaving the shore power connected as I put on that extra burst of power to leave the dock...
Managed to snap mine, I had a silly habit off wrapping it around the cleatsYep done that and simply stretched the shore power cable an extra 10 feet....
That happened to me on a students boat , He did not know his son had closed the fuel lines, stopped about 500m from berth in front of a large ship exiting the harbour, had to ask a very nice police boat to tow us out the way.Leaving the fuel taps turned off , went to change fuel filters up the hamble ,turned off the fuel taps realized I had Bought the wrong filters forgot to turn back on , got just out of the entrance and both engines shut down just like in ww2 film when the engines fail on fighter plane , had to drop the anchor just by the sand bar and bleed the engines , felt a complete idiot
Oh yes, been there...Leaving the shore power connected as I put on that extra burst of power to leave the dock...
Followed another boat. Bent the prop. Never again!
Left the swim ladder in. When I stopped the ladder was beautifully horizontal along the same lines as the boat.
Forgetting to open a seacock after impellor change.
An impeller change can be done while underway provided you have somebody to steer the boat, in this case using a knackered Leather man, a ASDA cornflake box , Vaseline.and hanging upside down for 20 mins.
