As part of running new cables round the boat, I had to completely empty the locker under the chart table to get access to a cable pipe through a hole in the locker. Imagine my frustration when I couldn't get a mouse wire to go down the pipe. Imagine my surprise when I hung upside down in the locker with a torch and found a tiny jar of Marmite lodged in the neck of the pipe!

Still with its original plastic seal round the neck of the jar, unopened, and dated "best before 1999".

Mrs Boreades and I have been scratching our heads, wondering how any foodstuffs got into a locker we never use for food. From the date on the jar, we can vaguely lending our boat to some other people in 1998, they must have stuffed stuff anywhere and everywhere.

What have you found?

A cat.

I must have closed the hatch on it when I had been working on the boat earlier in the day. I don't know who was more surprised at the time but it certainly made me jump.

The Boss, he was sorting lockers so I left him to it and went off kayaking with the pup. Returned not much later to hear a pathetic tapping and groans, opened the locker slowly so I could take snap shots of him climbing out :)

Consider this. If it was a dog you left in the locker instead of the boss, who would be the most happy to see you?

It wasn't our boat but our German neighbours who had been at the "nature-harbour" at Dasser Ort and found a juvenile fox in their food locker. They panicked, and so did the fox, which left the evidence behind.

Apart from a rusty spanner in the bilges, the only worthwhile discovery I have made was not in a locker it way underneath the engine. A pristine pair of mens Bolle sunglasses. No idea how they got there, but they fit a treat :)

Found a really nice cap once under the engine, discovered it was belong to someone who had surveyed the wrong boat.....

Tracked him down and gave it back, later I was sorry to have done so, as he turned out to be a right B****x a sometime later.
