Whats it like where you are?

Gusting 75Knots on the Portland Harbour wall: https://weatherfile.com/location?loc_id=GBR00006

I suppose I ought to get down there and check everything's OK.

The first really wet day of the season up here. The burn through our garden went from a trickle to spate overnight. Not too much wind though.

The weather you are complaining about down south would be just a normal winter storm here.

Been a lot of rain here as well. Someone got caught out with one of our streams. This was on my lunchtime walk, not sure how long its been there:

He could have driven across the foot bridge although it would have been tight. Its only 3 miles round so that's an expensive shortcut.

Yes, boat in the Coombe at CG. Home on Bodmin Moor. Hope you find everything OK.

Should be snug in there, we’re a bit too big and fat to fit unfortunately.

Now confirmed two yachts are on the Devon mud - a ketch which is the one that landed there about a week ago, and the fin keel sloop from this morning.

Will head down tomorrow and make sure everything is ok on ours, fingers crossed ?

that yacht on the Devon side has been there for well over a week now. Apparently about 34 foot. Our Commodore has just emailed members to say MOD police say 2 yachts sunk in the Tamar (not known where or size etc). Also, some boats have sails 'flying'! Thankfully my 22 footer is now out on the hard.

One liveaboard anchored on West Mud was towed to a safe mooring by the Plymouth AWB this morning. A yacht came adrift from the Cremyll moorings after its inner forestay sail unfurled. It literally sailed itself across the river into the dockyard wall where it foundered. Tried to get a line on it but to quick and rough in the short time available.

Spent the day in Tor Bay, nothing out of the usual for this time of year.

Message from the marina in Plymouth, like Nooka, the boat is fine in Plymouth.

Hope everybody else is OK.

Mixed bag over here in Skye. Today we left in almost flat calm, heading for Stornoway, but by the time we cleared the north end of the island it was 35kt against us and big white crested rollers. Decided to turn back, and later heard that the ferry had been cancelled.

Here is a photo of that one:

Now lying at Rubble Jetty, South Yard, Devonport. Rudder & steering gear ripped off, and several holes in the hull.

I sold this yacht to the current owner about 3 years ago! It is (or rather was now) a Saltram Saga 40 called ‘Beth Eliza’, actually hull number 1 which was the plug made to make the hull construction mould. As a result this yacht is extremely strongly built, probably why it is still largely intact...

Well, back from our early high-tide visit to Saguday this morning, taking advantage of the short but lovely weather window today. All is well except there is even more birdcrap on the winches and in the cockpit as the poor little blighters must have been sheltering in there from the gales.

Lots of people out at Cargreen this morning, checking their boats and others - it’s a great community they really do keep any eye out for everyone. I would like to thank publicly here the crew of Xenta our neighbours for checking Saguday out in our absence and also, deeply, the anonymous CYC member who found our dinghy bag with all the spares/pump etc in and hung it in the clubhouse - we now have it, so thank you.

The ketch is upright on a small shingle beach and almost looks like she may have been deliberately beached there - she’s maybe twin keeled or something and seems fine at least from a distance.

The fin keeler is over at more than 45deg lying on rocks, which is not a happy sight at all. Several local dinghies were over there checking her out earlier today trying to protect her as they can. She appears to be from Tamar River SC and her owners have now been informed. Given it’s springs I think it’s going to be a while before she will come off.

Here’s hoping for a quieter week next week

Aha! Now I know who you are, LOL. We met up on the Causeway about a month ago at CG. Unless there's another Island Packet at CG?? Glad all's well down there, and feeing sorry for those aground.

How desperately sad, the Saga has always been one of my dream blue water boats - I hope things work out as well as possible for the owner.

Rumbled. I believe we are the only one. I spoke to another chap on the Causeway today who also lived in/near Bodmin and I asked if he was you! He wasn’t and you weren’t. If you ever pass the more fashionable south end of the moorings do pop in if we’re on board :)

Yes, it’s very sad, I’m not sure how the TRSC boat is going to be recovered, hopefully there are well established ways and means.
