What's going on in Cherbourg?

Sorry I struggle with converting time and am just trying to do some passage planning. I assume the St Vaast lock times on the Les Portes De La Manche website are local time - so 1hr ahead of BST?

Is the statement I have highlighted below taken from a article correct? Should it read UTC + 1?

The almanac tells us St Vaast lock is open HW-2hr 15 to +3hr 30, or 1915-0100 BST. Note that the tide table for the French standard port Cherbourg is UT-1, which is BST. British tide tables are in UT (GMT). I prefer to stay in BST until we find we have arrived at a restaurant one hour late for dinner, French local time being one hour ahead. If we arrive off Barfleur at about 1730, we should cover the last 15 miles or so at 7 knots with a fair tide and arrive in time for the lock to open. If we miss the tide off Barfleur, or St Vaast looks exposed, we can divert to Cherbourg.

thanks

Would St Peter Port be a step too far & pose problems getting the timing right for the Alderney race? Certainly a nice place to go & if in st PP it is much easier to time the race on the trip home. Coming home would add about 7 hours to the trip.
DD first trip and solo so trying to keep as short as possible. PP will be next one assuming I return in one piece!

I will be doing the return journey at the end of September, from Cherbourg to somewhere on the south coast on my way to Bradwell in Essex. Like jaminb I will be SH. I do not fancy risking the needles channel so would prefer the east end of the IOW. I CANNOT anchor
That suggest Portsmouth, Langstone or Chichester none of which looks inviting

Looking at the options, there are very few 24 hour marinas that one can just turn up at & not give blood to berth. I want to stop 2 nights & being tired it needs to be easy access.
It seems to me that my best option is Cowes.
Can anyone suggest where to go please. Or do I have to go to Brighton. Which at 102 miles is a bit far. The alternative is to go to Dieppe , book out of Schengan there, (familiar waters) then go 80 miles to Dover (If I can get a berth) or Ramsgate,
Presumably jaminb will have a home port. so will not have this issue.

Wicormarine might suit. 45 minutes from Portsmouth Harbour entrance. Easy alongside berths. £2.00 per metre per night.

I intend to anchor in Prior Bay the night before on the way out and will probably do the same on the way back if too tired to make it back to my berth in Southampton
