I was looking at replacing my mainsheet traveller (which is an IYE one from about 198?), and have searched for IYE (International Yacht(ing) Equipment) in vain. Well, not quite in vain, I get this:

Status Dissolved
Type Private Limited Company
Incorporation Date 07/04/1954
Dissolution Date 28/03/2000
Nature of Business 7499 - Non-trading company

I wasn't paying enough attention to sailing matters back then, clearly!

Does anyone know if the patterns or stock were bought up by a competitor, and if so,by whom?

Full link is here for info: http://www.cdrex.com/international-yacht-equipment-southern-limited-5039183.html

Thanks Ken - I'll take a look at the link. Wow - 80 Quid for a service kit! I agree that the gear is good (perhaps too good, perhaps which is why they went bust!).

How are you enjoying Cherry Ripe, BTW? We looked at her in Kip when she was for sale there a couple of years ago, but I could not persuade SWMBO that an upgrade was necessary!

She is going well, thanks, now based 10M north of Oban. We are having a lot of fun with her in between fixing things.

You need to be a little careful with dimensions when buying IYE stuff to fit older tracks. I bought a new car and end stops for my 1984 track but the car is wider than the old one, consequently the plunger stops do not fit exactly, leaving a gap of about an inch. The car bangs to and fro in bouncy conditions, most annoying.

I've been looking for replacement IYE traveller kit for my X track for quite some time, but as said v expensive new. Thanks to Jimi of this parish I now have some from him at rather less :), but if you have the wherewithal to buy new, you can get them from a number of suppliers that Pro-boat supply. They are a bit reluctant to sell directly. Most comprehensive range is with Southern Rigging Supplies, where I got some extra bits to add to Jimis old kit. Also will allow you to check whether you have the C track or the smaller K track.

There is also a US site called Rig-Rite , which has IYE along with a no of other older UK systems. Don't know where they source the kit. Wouldn't suggest purchasing from that site as arrangements look both clunky and even more expensive than UK, but they do have useful info on kit dimensions etc.

As said, been looking into this for some time!

Just to cheer you up, (except for the price) I replaced the track, traveller and end fittings on our Westerly with identical IYE kit only a couple of years ago. It all fitted exactly as the old one and has transformed the mainsail handling.

I got the new stuff through Yachtparts in Plymouth who I was told are still doing mail order.
