Anchored in a dream little bay in Skopia Limani, Turkey the other night - just us and big blue stink boat called Capri - Seycelles flagged.
All was lovely 'till about midnight, when Capri ramped up the volume and the karaoke started. I've stood in front of the speakers at Glastonbury in my youth and that was quieter!
A few shouts from us between tracks suggesting that maybe they might turn down the volume were greeted with hoots of laughter.
I think we finally got some sleep at 06.00.
The songs sounded like Ukrainian or some such ilk, and there were 6 burly young blokes and assorted floosies on board so my wife and I, being in our 50's, felt that boarding them and throwing the sound system overboard was not an option. Yes, we could have moved, but that would have meant finding another stern line anchorage in another bay - not the best of fun in the middle of the night. And Jean was muttering "Let's ram them when we go!".
When we lifted the anchor later that morning, we passed close by and gave them a mouthfull about what we thought, but their reaction was "Simply, my dears, we don't give a damm."
Felt so helpless - and blown away at how selfish they were.
What would you have done?
