Sorry if this has been asked before....

My warps needs replacing and after looking up various suppliers I am now slightly confused what is best.

The options as I see it so far:
- 3 Strand nylon
- Polyester
- Multi / Anchorplait nylon
- Braided Dockline

This time I want something that won't creak and not go sort of hard as it ages. I am leaning towards Multi / Anchorplait nylon? (12mm)

The various websites all state the above are ideal for mooring etc.

What do you guys recommend or use?

Thanks.

I use 3 strand polyester which does not go hard.

Braideddosk lines if they wear the outer sheath the inner fibres wear quickly, three strand is much better in heavy wear situations.

I have used multiplait but i find it stretches too much.

another vote for 3 ply rope - I find the braided pre made ropes untrustworthy. the loops come undone and you cant tell what the inner core is like either.

Multiplait for me. Takes the snatch out of the line if you are in a bumpy mooring. Docklines have no give at all in them so snatching can be awful. Plus I find they creak.

I have used polyprop tarp-ropes that have fall off lorries in the past, but I only tied up when I was on board & visiting a berth somewhere so chafe & UV wasn't an issue. Rope is best tho. :D

Creaky noises wont bother you if you leave the marina & anchor somewhere nice, but rattly chain might. Funny innit, I generally like boaty noises, it's part of being afloat, rather like cows bellowing, sheep bleating & cocks crowing & the smell of poo are all part of the joys of country living.

Perhaps you should stick to Hotels & enjoy car doors slamming, over loud TVs & drunks staggering up the hall way singing in the early hours? Or city centre emergency sirens & car alarms, dogs barking & cats yowling? :D
