What type of tape for this job?

Just painting my deck...

There is a stripe which is peeling off - it just seems like normal electrical tape to me

When I replace it do I need some sort of special boat type tape? Surely normal electrical tape will just peel off?

Looks like remnants of outdoor grade blue masking tape , thats been left on after a previous paint job.

If you go to a normal signwriting firm, the type that does vinyl signage on vehicles etc., and specify the colour, width, length and intended service life, you will probably pay less than you would for something with the word "marine" in the name. They should be able to run off something as simple as a stripe for you, on the spot.

If that's on the deck I'd have thought you'd need to do a lot of preparation in order to ensure that any tape you put down doesn't start to deteriorate/peel off before very long. I would remove all of what's there already, as gently as you can (there are products that can help with this) and take it from there. If you really want a stripe on deck painting might be a better option...
