what type of anchor to get

[ QUOTE ]
its mainly rope the now i would say max depth would anchor in would be 25-30ft

[/ QUOTE ]While I'm not sure exactly what "mainly rope" means I assume it isn't good, so you will need to get some more chain - but "three times the depth" and all that is a little misguided. A rule of thumb for chain leaders is the length of the boat as a minimum, and on a low windage lightweight powerboat such as yours where you want to save weight anyway, there's no need to go overboard with chain.

It sounds like you're using a grapnel or folding fluke anchor, which simply doesn't offer the resistance you need. Upgrade to a decent 6Kg something. Make room for it in stowage, or install a roller-assembly on the bow that will hold it permanently in position (a better solution if you do a lot of anchoring anyway).

if this is a flying visit , can you tell me what I need for a 25 ft motor cruiser

[/ QUOTE ]Sorry, are you asking me? What displacement is your boat? Probably a 10Kg - look here. I don't want to hi-jack the thread though so contact us directly if you want.

Would you leave the boat at anchor over night / for the day whilst ashore?? There are plenty of moorings available on the Clyde. Other than a stop over for lunch in a quiet bay we never use ours much or is that hardly ever 'cause I cant work it properly /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Might be able to now though after reading all this!!

P.S passed your boat yesterday moored up @ Largs...I'd advise you to maybees move it forward a bit a few "nearlys" at low water by peeps negotiating the bend into the channel. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

does the bow nav light have to be on the dead center as was said before abotu a bow roller i was thinking if move the nav light and fit bow roller in the middle, thanks clyder dont usely put the boat there never like that corner some reason the marina put it all the way up there and comming back out today, what boat is yours by the way so can drop in say hi

I'm the Bayliner 602 in dry berth "13". They (marina) tried to get me to move up to where you were on Saturday night...I stayed down near the ramp, even then I had a disturbed sleep...bloody ribbers /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

I'm back at home now, due back down maybe midweek (work permiting) I'll look out for you.
