Hello all,

I have a Volvo md 2020C, 1999 vintage. The coolant drain plug is extremely reluctant so have bought a 3/8" breaker bar and square socket extension to improve purchase.
To connect the two I need some sort of square double female socket (?!) but am struggling to find the correct piece online.
Any suggestions?

Are you sure you cannot just use an ordinary extension bar like this Genuine DRAPER Expert 3/8" Square Drive Wobble Extension Bar (250mm) | 13921 5010559167395 | eBay available in various lengths with or without the wobble feature.

You've got the extension the wrong way round

Fits together like this with a socket to fit your drain plug (10mm square or whatever ) on the end .

Yup, I know they're the wrong way round, the square happened to fit the drain nut correctly though!
That drain plug socket attachment is exactly the extra bit needed in the puzzle instead.
Many thanks.

This is what you need

Your extension fits the other way round and one of the above fits to the 3/8 square on the extension with a 10 mm square onto the male of the drain plug.
Thanks.
The drain plug socket is exactly what I need.

I take it that your drain plug is like this.

Thats why you are looking at the female end of a 3/8" extension.

The socket I posted will fir onto the male square end of the extension and the 10mm female square in the end of the socket will go over the male square in the socket. 10mm is only slightly bigger than 3/8 "

Many thanks,
Drain plug socket ordered!
Thanks all. Post lockdown I'm sure I'll be back for recommendations on penetrating oil!

Bob.

As far as I’m concerned any company that fits a non-hex (and/or non-metric) drain plug needs to be cast into the seventh pit of hell for all eternity. B@stards.
